Any ideas on a cake and cupcake business?
I want to start making cupcakes and cakes to sell. Nothing major, but as a small side gig. I am in the State of California and understand that there are certain laws and regulations regarding this from home. I can not lease a business space either as it is too expensive. Any ideas?
Oh yes, there are laws. Most importantly, insurance (would someone get sick). It is not cheap. Also you need a food license, food handlers card an FDA approved facility and a wholesale license (this is of course if you want to be 100% legitimate). It is not easy and it is not easy to earn money in the baking business with this economy. Consider that even the majors IU Entemanns etc etc are barely keeping alive. I know homemade is superior but the timing is just not true.
